Got asked if I was having a baby for the money. I laughed. Firstly, I wasn’t planning a baby. He was a surprise. A beautiful surprise, but a surprise none the less. Secondly, I have spend most my money during pregnancy on my child. Thirdly, for what money? After paying all bills and living expenses there isn’t that much left over. And my baby bonus and extra money is going to be saved for a car and REIQ course to get real estate licenses - that will benefit myself and my child. The baby bonus will go straight to savings, not a cent will be spent on new clothes or anything of the likes. And I have every right to put it towards savings seeing as everything that should be purchased by the baby bonus - I have purchased already with my own money or been given so that I can be prepared BEFORE my son gets here, rather than rush around after he is born while he has the bare minimum. And just to clarify, yes he does have everything. Diapers, all toiletries, clothes up to a year, a song and vibration bouncer and a pooh rocker, bassinet, high chair, toys, sneakers, pram and car capsule, everything. And anything else I need to buy along the way such as more diapers etc will come out of MY payments, not baby bonus. Baby bonus is being saved for something that will benefit myself and my child for a long time.
So, No. I’m not doing it for the money. There really is not much money left after living expenses and if you haven’t bought everything baby needs with your own money, then you’ll have no baby bonus left either…
